Introduction
You are reading the Angry Dog Midget Editions, a series of diminutive books I mistakenly thought would be “a lot of fun to put together” over 2 years ago.
Aside from being lazy, one of the major obstacles to the fruition of this Fitzcarraldian enterprise was my now incomprehensible desire to release all 26 of the books simultaneously. Well, the series did not originally include 26 books. But like a literary meningitis, it swelled.
Hmmm…futilism.
I don’t have any other major pretensions or statements to make about these books other than that I think the poets, writers and artists included here are among the best of our time, and my favorites.
For reasons that are too involved to explain, as of August, 2008, there are no longer any unsigned box sets left and individual books are not currently available. Only the signed and lettered box sets E - Z will be available beginning in mid-September, 2008 at a cost of $500/set. Once they are available, only the 22 sets will be for sale until further notice. Please send an email to me at darksandal@gmail.com if you want to reserve one or if you have other questions. Thanks.

A few general notes about the production of the series and then some thank yous. Notes about the particular authors, artists and books are on the Books page.
For the most part, though not entirely, the books were typed. This was probably a huge mistake driven by some kind of sentimental caveman impulse that quickly dissipated. But I like old manual typewriters and the way the type looks and I like typing. As the series wore on and I took on some prose manuscripts it just seemed stupid. And so, I laid some of them out to the best of my abilities on the computer. Anyhow, I have to thank Tamara Matthews right up front for helping with a good chunk of the typing, layout, paste-up and photocopying. She was fastidious, meticulous and wonderful to work with. Thank you Tamara for all your help.
The covers, with the exception of a few that were photocopied, were printed on a GOCCO press – a small Japanese craft press that works like a cross between a stamp press and a silkscreen. Its portability, durability and precision make it the perfect press for a project of this size. I am grateful to it, in a Shintoist kind of way, for holding up under the printing of about 13,000 covers. Marina Eckler, my wife, introduced me to it and also helped with the printing of a good many of the covers including paper folding, stapling and all other sorts of tedium. Thank you so much, Marina! I promise never to publish 26 books simultaneously ever again.
Kevin Opstedal: Sheesh, your dedication to the young poetry ponces like myself has definitely earned you a gem-bedazzled Laz-E-Boy and a bottomless cup of mead in Valhalla. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you’ve done, and for printing the guts of these books!
Cedar Sigo, John Huston and Richard Hell: Thanks for the emergency cash infusions and the sage advice.
Darin Klein – not one of the most, but the most charming man in the world: Thanks for all your help putting so many of these things together 10 minutes before the reading in LA and for letting us dream in your bed. Thank Steve Lady for me too.
Lena Wolff, Will Schwartz, Corina Bilandzija, Mary Manning and Marco for putting us up at at the Capp St. Castle on the San Francisco leg of our reading tour.
Brian Arnot, Bettina Swigger and Aaron Eastburn: Fag Team forever!
To everyone in the series: Thanks and here it is. My apologies for the endless delays.
